As part of our Recontextualizing Richmond project, Reclaiming the Monument is now accepting proposal submissions for our Collaborative Arts Initiative. This program provides selected applicants with funding, support, and guidance in the creation of works of public art which speak to issues of social, environmental, racial, or historical justice.

 

This program provides four selected applicants with $5,000 of funding, including a $1,000 stipend, and a $4,000 production budget towards the creation and installation of a work of small-scale public art. In addition, selected applicants will receive logistical, creative, and technical guidance and support from Reclaiming the Monument as they turn their proposal to reality. 

 

This opportunity is open to applicants throughout the Richmond Metropolitan region, including all surrounding counties, and the cities of Petersburg and Hopewell. This opportunity is open to applicants of all levels of experience, mediums, disciplines, background, ethnicity, race, gender, sexual identity, age, creed, and national origin. Applicants comprised of individuals, partnerships, collectives, or organizations are welcome to apply.

 

Applicants will be selected by a panel of judges, who will evaluate each proposal based on the merits of the submission, including feasibility, design, messaging, and diversity of representation. 

 

Submissions will be open until June 15, 2022
